Elementary

The Elementary years are a time for discovery and developing a love for learning. The elementary years set the stage for a lifetime of learning. Our Elementary Program for TK - 5th Grade is ready for your student! 

Using the Learning Success Model from the Learning Success Institute, your Educational Facilitator partners with you to develop a Personalized Learning Plan that’s tailored to your student’s specific interests, talents, and power traits. 

In collaboration with your Educational Facilitator, you will work together to support your child in acquiring the core competencies and achievement skills needed to become an increasingly self-determined learner.  

Appealing to children’s natural curiosity, our model emphasizes active, student-centered learning over rote memorization and drills. This approach to independent study helps parents engage students with: 

  • the most effective tools, curriculum, and resources for learning. 

  • projects that apply learning to the real world and are tailored to their interests. 

  • activities that encourage them to think for themselves as they apply what they learn in meaningful ways. 

  • on-going progress and diagnostic assessment. 

Middle School

Building on a similar approach to elementary the middle school program is designed to meet students during this critical phase of transition into adolescence by encouraging positive social engagement, teamwork, and project-based learning. Middle school students begin to exercise more agency in contributing to their self-directed learning plan and process.

High School

Dimensions Collaborative School's High School program is proudly WASC Accredited, ensuring a high standard of educational excellence. Our graduation requirements not only meet but exceed the state's criteria for high school graduation, and we are proud to boast a 99% graduation rate for our senior cohorts.

Our comprehensive High School Program offers essential UC A-G lab courses in chemistry and biology. We also support a variety of competitive and engaging teams, including Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Mock Trial, Vex Robotics (a championship team), and The Stock Market Game (also a winning team). In addition, we have, Maker Spaces, state-of-the-art computer labs, and an active Performing Arts Community.

Students at Dimensions Collaborative School have the opportunity to earn college credit through concurrent enrollment. They can take courses free of charge at Community Colleges in San Diego County, gaining both high school credit and college credit hours simultaneously.

Our Academic Counselor is dedicated to providing continuous support and guidance through workshops and personalized student/parent conferences.

Extracurricular activities for our high school students include prom, grad ventures, various clubs, field trips, campus tours, and college and career days, enriching their educational experience beyond the classroom.

Career Technical Education

We partner with San Diego County Community Colleges and industry to customize curriculum and career pathways so that the students of today are prepared for the workforce of the future.

The California Community College Workforce and Economic Development Initiative ensures that community college programs are responsive to economic forecasts and workforce needs.

Students at Dimensions are able to explore Introduction CTE courses with our partnership through San Diego County Community Colleges as well as completing CTE pathways as their elective courses.

Future Business Leaders of America Partnership

This program provides students the freedom and creativity to not only learn business and marketing fundamentals, but to explore their ideas with experimentation and into a possible creation. Business CTE students at Dimensions become part of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). Students have a wide open and free-to-choose choice of a project, which they will work on during the entire year. Students also have the opportunity to compete in FBLA competitions at the State and National level. Focus of the program is more to experiment and explore your ideas rather than having a ton of class lectures. Students can explore a variety of entrepreneurial ideas in business, leadership or non-profits--just to name a few. Students will also learn how to fundraise and be a part of student leadership at Dimensions. Please note as well--if you are just interested in Leadership and participating in that way, you are more than welcomed to join FBLA. You do not need to have an idea for a business or non-profit to join. There are plenty of Leadership-only things to participate and engage in.

Robotics

The Robotics program is part of STEM and designed to explore the field of robotics as it teaches science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students learn how to use feedback from sensors, applied mathematics, and measurement to program their robot to navigate in its environment. They have the opportunity to complete multiple investigations involving inquiry learning and guided research, problem solve, work in teams, and document what they’ve learned as they investigate how robots make decisions to navigate their environment.

Students are also given the opportunity to participate on the robotics team.

The Dimensions Collaborative School Tinkerbits FLL (First Lego League) Robotics competed in the southern California FLL Challenge Championships & FLL Explore Festival and received the 1st Place Remote Robot Performance Award finishing with the highest score of 680 from the entire region, for both remote and in-person League.

The Tinkerbits 2 Team competed at the CoderZ League (Software Code Development) World Finals and received the Excellence in Programming Award in the Junior division.  Only one team worldwide received this award in every division.

Global Studies

The aim of Global Studies is to facilitate a transformative experience that develops in students the attributes of global citizens: to be informed and critically literate, socially connected and respectful of diversity, and ethically responsible and engaged on behalf of the Earth and its people. They can engage in practices of ecological literacy such as systems thinking, sustainability, and design thinking in order to act on issues important to them and to the social and environmental good. They will also have the opportunity to participate in relevant global travel.

Field Trips & Activities

The flexibility of student schedules in the Personalized Learning Model at Dimensions allows for an emphasis on experiential learning. In fact, DCS encourages you to tap into the wide range of field trip opportunities available to you in this diverse community. We believe that field trips are valuable learning experiences that can:  

  • expose students to new experiences and can increase interest and engagement in science regardless of prior interest in a topic.  

  • result in affective gains such as more positive feelings toward a topic.  

  • be recalled and useful long after a visit.
